Welcome to ACS!

Early Years: 8:00 AM - 1:30  PM
Kindergarten - Grade 12: 8:00 AM - 3:00  PM
Late Start Tuesdays: classes start at 9:00 AM for all grades

• Drop-Off: Please plan on arriving by 7:45 AM on the first day of school to allow your child time to enter the school and reach their classrooms.

• Arrival Time: Students are not permitted on campus before 7:40 AM (8:40 AM on late start Tuesdays) as we do not provide supervision until that time.  

• Late Start Tuesday: On Tuesday mornings, teachers engage in Collaborative Community Time (CCT) meetings from 8:00 - 9:00 AM, and classes start at 9:00 AM for all students. Bus and student drop-off schedules will run 1 hour later than the normal time, and the end of the day remains the same. 

PowerSchool is our student information system, and parents will receive login information before your child starts at ACS. Here are some of the things you can do in PowerSchool:

• Complete Registration Forms: Student Health & Safety, Photo & Video Consent, ACO Membership forms. These forms are required to be completed for each child. 

• Sign Up for Bus Service: Under Forms, complete the Bus Information form to request door-to-door bus service. 

• Update Contact Information: Under Forms, update your local contact information in the ACS Demographic Information form. We may contact you with announcements or for emergencies through SMS and WhatsApp, so please make sure your contact information is current. 

• For technical assistance with PowerSchool, please contact powerschool@acsamman.edu.jo. 

Every family must complete three sets of forms in PowerSchool. You can save your progress and finish later.

Before you start, have ready: a photo of each parent's ID and a photo or scan of your child's immunization record.

Sign in to PowerSchool and click Registration Forms in the left menu. You'll complete:

• Photo & Video Consent: your choices for how we use photos and videos of your child

• ACO Member Identification: verified parent ID, required by the Ministry of Social Development

• Student Health & Safety Forms: emergency contacts, medical consents, and confidential health information, seen only by the staff who need it

Elementary School

• EYP–Grade 3:

  • In EYP through Grade 3, iPads are issued by ACS as a guided learning tool, not as a primary mode of instruction or independent screen time.

• Grade 4:

  • Students are issued an ACS Chromebook.

• Grade 5 (BYOD):

  • Students bring a family-owned laptop as part of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program.

  • Devices support access to learning resources at school and at home.

Smartwatches are not permitted in Elementary School.

Middle & High School

• Middle & High School follow a 1:1 laptop program. Technology is integrated across all subject areas and is considered an essential learning tool.

• Students are expected to bring a fully charged laptop to school each day.

• Students may bring a phone to school. From 7:40 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., phones must remain silent and stored in backpacks. Phones seen during the school day will be confiscated.

You will receive more information about bus assignments before the start of school.

• School bus service begins on the first day of school. If you are arriving mid-year, please allow up to 2 business days to assign and update bus schedules. 

• You can register for bus service through your PowerSchool account under Forms.

• Buses generally reach 10km from our campus.

• Late Tuesdays: bus schedules will run 1 hour later than the normal pick-up time. The end of the day remains the same.

• There are some areas our bus will not reach. Please get in touch with the bus coordinator to ensure our buses reach your neighborhood.

Our activities program plays a key role in helping students become compassionate, confident, and globally-minded individuals. Through athletics, arts, service, and more, students take on challenges, build lasting friendships, and develop skills they’ll carry with them for life.

Regular checkups and preventative care are essential for a healthy community. ACS requires students to have the following vaccines, per age group:

Elementary School: ages 4-6

• Tdap – booster 

• IPV – 4th dose

• MMR – 2nd dose

• Varicella – 2nd dose

 Middle School: age 11

• Tdap – booster

 High School

• No vaccines are required other than to have the vaccines needed for Elementary and Middle Schools.

Health Checklist 

• Inform the Health Center of any pre-existing and new health conditions.

• Inform the Health Center when your child has a contagious condition.

• Notify the Health Center of any medication your child must take during school hours.

• Scorpion Central: Our community's online information center with useful day-to-day school resources and information for each section. 

• What's Going On (WGO): Our weekly school-wide newsletter sent every Thursday afternoon with news, information, and announcements from our Superintendent, Activities office, section offices, and Parent-Teacher Group. 

• WhatsApp: Each class will have a WhatsApp group that is managed by the Class Parent for announcements and support.
