Dear High School Families,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the ACS High School. We hope to create a dynamic learning experience for your child as we prepare them for higher learning beyond high school. Below are our beliefs as a high school community. Along with your help, we believe these will set our students up for success in whatever future endeavors they may face.
We believe students learn best in a safe and nurturing environment.
We believe embracing diversity strengthens our community and enriches our lives.
We believe well-rounded individuals are prepared to adjust to a rapidly changing world.
We believe that when students are actively engaged in the learning process, learning becomes irresistible.
To support you during the first days of school, I have listed some of the more important items for your review. There is a lot of information below. Please prioritize reading this in its entirety as there are new procedures and expectations for the 2025 - 2026 school year.
The information provided may seem extensive and somewhat overwhelming, especially at the beginning of the school year. Please take solace in the fact that this information is normalized with our students throughout the school year. If you have a question that requires immediate attention, you may email the High School Administrative Assistant, Iman Samawi at isamawi@acsamman.edu.jo. Additional information regarding the high school will come out every week through the High School Update and accessible through the What's Going On (WGO).
Once again, welcome to the high school, and thank you for the opportunity to work as partners in your child’s education. I am positive that this year will be tremendous.
Kind regards,
Jeffrey Wilusz
High School Principal
The HS office is located on the ground floor of the main building, next to the cafeteria. The majority of our classes are on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the school, with some scattered classrooms on the ground floor.
On the first day of school (see schedule below), all students will start their school day promptly at 9:00 am (Tuesday late start) in their Cohort classrooms. Following the Cohort, students will follow their schedules, visit all of their classrooms, and meet their teachers in shorter class sessions. The school will dismiss at 3:00 pm. You can pick up your child at the designated areas in the front of the school or, if they take the bus, they will walk to the bus yard and be placed on the appropriate bus to be taken home.
Students who accrue more than seven absences in a course over the course of a semester may result in the denial of credit OR a required online course to meet the requirement for that class. This will be determined through an attendance review conducted by the HS Administration. Should an online course be required then it must be approved by the Principal.
Please review our attendance expectations and procedures as outlined in the HS Family Handbook.
Please inform the High School Office of the absences by email - hsoffice@acsamman.edu.jo
We look forward to seeing you on campus for High School Back to School Night to learn more about the HS program and meet your child’s teachers. Please join us on August 25 at 5:00 pm in the school theater.
More information and reminders will be sent closer to the event.
Every high school student is given a Google account. You should have already received information on how to set up your child’s ACS student email account. If you have not or if you have any questions about how to set up your child’s account, please email our Technology Department at help@acsamman.edu.jo.
The high school at ACS operates on an 8-day block rotation. This rotation ensures that students receive subject matter instruction at different times of the day for the 8-day cycle. It would be beneficial to review the HS Daily schedule (linked above) so that students have a clear understanding of how the rotation works. In addition, students are assigned to a Cohort.
Cohort is meant to be a space and time to connect with a small group of classmates and one staff member. It also provides students with information related to high school life as well as educates them on a variety of topics not incorporated into our core academic classes. Cohort teachers are there to support the students throughout the school year.
All students in high school are expected to bring their own fully charged laptops as well as their chargers to school. We integrate technology into all of the curricular areas and expect that students will bring their devices to school every day. This is one of the student’s learning tools and needs to be treated as such.
In an emergency, we have a limited number of Chromebooks for students to borrow for a short time. As a result, we may not have a device for a student to use which will require them to complete required computer class work at home as extra homework.
Appropriate use of devices is expected from all students. These expectations are reviewed at the beginning of the year and all students must acknowledge the Responsible Use Policy (RUP) to access the school network and use school technology resources. This policy is outlined in the High School Family Handbook. Should a student choose not to use their device for school-related activities, they will be reminded of the expectations.

ACS has a cafeteria dining space for students which is managed by Blue Fig's catering service. In collaboration with a certified nutritionist, the cafeteria offers healthy and balanced options that include vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options.
High school students also have the option of purchasing cafe-style refreshments, food, and pastries at the Learning Common Cafe.
Students need to bring a water bottle with them to school each day. All water fountains on campus require a water bottle for service.
Please note that ACS is a nut-aware school and students should not bring nuts or nut products to school for lunch or snacks.
The cafeteria menu can be found on the ACS website under Scorpion Central.
Each semester, a wide range of clubs is offered to our high school students. These clubs are student-driven and focus on providing students with extracurricular opportunities through the arts, technology, and fitness. In addition to the club offerings, high school students are eligible to participate in the ACS Athletics program. Athletics and Activities website
